The alfresco garden bed looks up at the hanging plant in high regard and jealousy, as today they spin and dance and flaunt their newly blooming flowers. A metaphor for how we place ourselves in life if we leave static normality, be set in motion, evolving and becoming our most desired selves. After taking a long exposure photo of this unfurling moment, I consider how altering the reality of what is in front of me opens up an entire thought process of abstraction and obscured narratives. And not just those of my own but also of my respective audience interpreting the finished artwork, connecting to their memories and visual associations. When I look at my more abstracted works I am transported back to the particular time, what I felt, what type of day it was, how my children were responding to the same sight and that would subconsciously impact what I would create, even if I was yet to realise it would end up on my canvas.”
