  • Happy Hour

    $2,800.00

    Happy Hour, 2024
97 x 97cm acrylic, oil stick, oil pastel on canvas
    Framed in oak

When wining and dining midweek in a new suburb feels like a momentary escape to Europe. A fine red wine, cool evening air, glowing strings of lights and your favourite company creating a celebratory atmosphere. Happy hour for a happy memory.

Painting my natural surroundings comes fluently in my art practice now, so approaching an alternative subject when inspiration strikes is exciting and challenging and something I will be doing more of.

“Part of the artistic process is getting lost within the developing composition. Sometimes there’s only so far you can use the photographic prompt. You push and push, lose it a little and come back to a place of resolution; regain control.”

  • State of fusion

    $850.00

    State of fusion, 2024
51 x 76.5cm acrylic and wax pastel on polycotton
    Unframed, edges are painted

As an artist, metaphorically my mind is in a constant state of fusion, I keep my eyes wide open to every inch of my surroundings. Each idea, experience, emotion, combining and circulating with possibility. Perceiving the natural world through a mental process of deconstruction to navigate the colours, shapes and organic movement until something new and exciting is born. Here, a piece inspired by a recent simple yet beautiful afternoon walking the bush track near home with my children, a path I’ve taken so many times and know so well. Extracting the essence of the landscape to elevate and evolve a fleeting moment into an abstract interpretation; a fusion.”

  • Escaping inertia

    $2,800.00

    Escaping inertia, 2024
    100 x 100cm acrylic on polycotton
    Framed in American ash

The alfresco garden bed looks up at the hanging plant in high regard and jealousy, as today they spin and dance and flaunt their newly blooming flowers. A metaphor for how we place ourselves in life if we leave static normality, be set in motion, evolving and becoming our most desired selves. After taking a long exposure photo of this unfurling moment, I consider how altering the reality of what is in front of me opens up an entire thought process of abstraction and obscured narratives. And not just those of my own but also of my respective audience interpreting the finished artwork, connecting to their memories and visual associations. When I look at my more abstracted works I am transported back to the particular time, what I felt, what type of day it was, how my children were responding to the same sight and that would subconsciously impact what I would create, even if I was yet to realise it would end up on my canvas.”

  • Edge of a dream

    $3,500.00

    Edge of a dream, 2024
120 x 120cm acrylic, oil pastel on polycotton
    Framed in Tasmanian oak

“I look forward to lying down for sleep at night.
    Yes the rest is needed, but it’s the uninterrupted thoughts that I truly await;
reflection of the day, building the endless potential artworks in my mind.
This artwork has been drawn from the inspiration of wattle and flowering gum that I love, and fascinated by the vast amount of species of them across Australia, what you view down the road from your house is likely different to me.
A bright, bold and joyful abstraction that gives viewers the opportunity to connect the art to their own memories and moments within nature.”
